Has anyone had good results propagating sweet potatoes from cuttings taken from plants now and over-wintering them, or are slips taken from the potato in the spring the better way to go.
Taking slips from actual sweet potatoes are the way one always reads about. However, I take cuttings from the plants, dump them in water, pot them up when they have roots and then keep them on a windowsill over the winter. You don't need a lot of plants as you can take as many cuttings as you need once the sweet potatoes vines take off.
Enjoy! I'll be taking my cuttings tomorrow to beat the frost!
