It's hard to be sure what the "return" is, but here is a list by demand
(from my perspective):
1) Tomatoes, by far.
2) peaches
3) blackberries
4) shelled southern peas
5) asparagus
6) green beans
7) sweet corn
8) okra
9) squash
10) onions
11) potatoes
In a market without peddlers, customers get real excited when the first
of 1-8 come in. 8-11 are slow, but steady. Of course, the market can
get glutted with ANY on the list.
