When the instructions say "closed container"

Adriana
The lid on the container you used to make the mother batch does not have
to be air tight so you should be ok if your lid popped off a few times
while the mix was brewing. How ever when you take off the resulting
brown water, you should put it in a bottle with a tight cap. When you
open it later, you should expect a nice pop and maybe some foam like you
get from a shaken pop bottle, a sign that you have good stuff. I
wouldn't recommend doing it in the house though. Let me know how it
works for you.

PS to Tracy Kane,
Check back on the archives for my original post several weeks ago (about
May 24 I think). I think I quoted a variety of applications including:
* applying to compost piles to speed up activity
* preemergent weed supression
* suppression of some insect pests
* stimulating growth on established plantings
* controling odors in septic systems
Good luck
