Here in rural Kentucky, a lot of people remember picking blackberries to
sell to buy their fall school clothes, and it's hard to get a high price.
We sell wild at 2.50/pint. Domestic berries don't sell well at all, but the
people
will line up for the wild ones. At 2.50, we make pretty good $/hr - as long
as we're picking a good spot. I still hear of people selling blackberries
for $5-$8/GALLON, so we're pleased to get the 2.50/pint - more then double
the "normal" price. If we marketed to a "metro" area, I'm sure we could get
a much better price, but our land would have cost more! Alison Wiediger,
