The March 2001 issue of growing for Market says on pg. 3 that according
to the book "Plug and Transplant production" by the Ball publishing Co;
Some types of plastics absorb chlorine, which forms toxic compounds with
polystyrene, hurting germination and growth of the next crop. Begonias
are particularly susceptible. they suggest quaternary ammonium salts
such as Greenshield or Physan20.
This is why you should not use Chlorine bleach for seed trays etc..
