All tighter husks will do is reduce bird damage, the bird damage is a
direct result of sap beetles which are a direct result of earworms in
the ear, its no problem for earworms to chew right into the side of an
ear regardless of the tight husks, one problem I have seen with tight
husk varieties is the ear protruding out of the tip exposing tip
kernels.
For the most part earworms seldom damage more than 5% of the ear I wish
people could learn to except that and enjoy the remaining 95 PERCENT!,I
guess we have become a spolied people.
