I generally agree with all you say Paul.Except that
I think the so called food safety regulations are set up by the huge food
producing companies and have the intention of killing off small competitors
more than anything else. They also falsify scientific tests and they spend huge
sums to manipulate the public.
One good example is that supplying raw milk is
forbidden for "safety reasons" in most places in the US I think. People who want
raw milk because they know better don't have it easy and the few who are
prepared to risk all to supply it neither. When you look at the real data then
raw milk is a thousand times safer than the pasteurised, homogenised rubbish
that is legally protected.
Another is making it legally impossible to get some
supplements like vitamins and this is several steps further along in Europe than
in the US. We here in Ireland get so little sunshine that taking 5,000 IU/day of
vitamin D3 is a very good idea if you want to stay healthy. Try and go looking
for this locally. Almost all vitamin D sold is the D2 form and most contain
no more than 400 units and this is supposedly only for our
"safety".
Food companies should be regulated for safety but
they are not. The biggest ones make and break the rules as they
please.
