Hi Paul,

I planted a small patch of Ozark Beauty everbearers this past Spring here in Rhode Island. I did pick off blossoms but maybe didn't do it through June, or sporadically, as I was impatient for a few berries. I didn't pick off any runners, as there weren't many, and the literature I had didn't mention it. I did get a few berries-- some large, some small, all very tasty. I think the dry weather was to blame for the smallness, and there is a little shade over part of that patch (the part that didn't bear as well, hmm). We put a half-inch screened removable frame over it to keep the birds out. Took us a little longer to figure out where the chipmunk was coming in, but we did and blocked it.

I'd like to have a much larger bed so I could make jam but space and location on our property then becomes more of a consideration, and something more practical than a larger frame would have to be designed.

If I had done more research before I ordered plants I might have gotten a different variety for more disease resistance, but (knock wood) they did well.
