Raw soy also contains phytates that block
absorption of nutrients from the diet. I don't think it is a good idea at all to
feed soy.
Mind you my system is not perfect either but we do
get eggs aplenty and the birds look mostly in very good nick.
We can get a good supply of wheat and barley grain
and also of sea fish and that is what we mostly distribute at feeding time.
Sometimes something else pops up, like half a ton of wind fall apples. And for
the rest the birds are really free range and help themselves.
