Hi, neighbor! That's excellent and it should be covered much more. Examples
are so much more involving than us lecturing. You could put that on Old
Ways Living list too.

Seeing that and Harvey's similar post, I wonder what sort of people in
general can manage going offgrid. Any move takes some money doesn't it.
Alternative energy setups cost big bucks, and all up front. It occurs to me
that most folks strapped for cash in this economy can't make such a move
even if they know how and they're willing to go for it. Many factors can
bar familes from it, disabilities, age, income, special needs children, you
name it. In our case we're not able for various reasons. There are other
"moves" in place if we're able, such as growing & preserving our own food,
thrift store shopping, cutting electric use. For the vast majority those
alternatives are probably more realistic and helpful, and above all doable.
My own personal view is there simply will not be an economic "recovery" and
all these things are about to become more urgent.
