I'm glad to see that many people are apparently starting to grow their own, but dismayed at the number who are still buying processed foods.

One person in the article said coupons weren't much help. That's how the food manufacturers are trying to keep up the sale of processed foods, by offering good coupon deals.

It is possible to do very very well with coupons. My daughter is one of those people who can go to the checkout with a cart full of food (and real food, not just junk) and a fistful of coupons, and not pay a cent for the food. But she does that by spending several hours every day tracking coupons and putting deals together. Most people don't have the time or patience for it, including me.
