Plants can be weak for other reasons. Water not getting to the roots, too
much water in the clay, too much bug spray, root bound transplants, hybrid
varieties - just to name a few. And of course if neighbors are spraying
wildly they might be chasing them off to your place. It'll be hard to contain
squash with floating row covers tho.
