I'm not confident of it, but I hope this will be a boon for the small growers and the farmers' markets. In the past, when meat and other protein sources became expensive, people turned to carbohydrates and sugars to bulk out their meals. But now, the prices for those things are shooting up as well.

Otoh, it could just as well be the signal for Monsanto to turn out something that "fills you up just as well as real food but doesn't cost as much."

Can you tell I spend way too much time looking at convenience store "food" inventory . . .
