This year in our new location we were able to cut irrigation
to one-fourth of previous gardens, simply with permanent, framed beds and
mulch and better amended soil. ~paul

Paul, can you expand on your sources of mulching materials, please. I do more mulching all the time, but end up buying too much imported straw. I have maybe 3/4 of an acre in pasture sod, and in the spring take a heavy cutting for excellent mulch. But I often cannot get a decent cutting later in the season, especially if it's dry. In other words, there's never enough mulch, and I have a lot more ground to gather cut materials from than many gardeners.

It would be great if folks who grow more of their own mulching plants would share some of their experiences/ideas.

Thanks.

~Harvey
