Ken, the Holen Arboretum is 3400 acres, most of it in
a natural state--The only time I have seen or hear of
a chemnical being used, is for eraication of invasive
wetland plants, an last year, the understaffing was
magnified by a huge isplay that took up a lot of
time-- so herbicie was applied to an area where a new
bed wa going in-- otherwise, we are out there pulling
weeds by hand, turning compost,Putting deer fences up
an own for the winter. We laugh about the fact that
one of the formal areas has vinca in it, an we pick it
up to reach unerneath to pull the native dandelions,
then when a clas of school kids come, we take them
into the woods and pull the vinca out by the roots!

An I did say _ as much as possible_

Terry
