It is impossible for man to produce stable humus synthetically. Man can properly cultivate the field, supply organic matter and so encourage the development of stable humus in the soil. Soil with stable humus must always be protected to maintain the fertility and productivity of the soil. This may have been true when it was originally
quoted by an unknown source, but is no longer accurate. We have been
manufacturing Humus at Soil Secrets in New Mexico for over 10 years now.
The final product we call Cultured Humus which we use as a carrier for our
inoculum products such as the propagules of mycorrhizae and the endospores of
the helper bacteria. This humus product is constantly being analyzed for
it's percentage of Humic substances by doubtful potential clients such as golf
courses and large architectural design firms and it always tests out at whatever
percentage of Humic acids that we choose the final product to have, up to
80%. When we make it and it's coming out of the culture tanks it is nearly
100% Humic substances, but we use this product as a carrier adding many other
ingredients to it which dilutes the percentage down.
