Provisional ballots are one of the big edge cases but even there it's not
too bad. Thankfully I haven't had to deal with jammed machines, but
there are procedures for that too (there's a little slot below the machine
that we can open and place ballots in if the machine malfunctions.

Other interesting things include address changes (easy), curbside ballots
(easy, unless a former president completely takes up all your handicap
spots!!!, and then only harder because of walking further), precinct transfers
(harder, but not too bad). Basically, anything outside the normal
ATV (authorization to vote) -> ballot -> counting machine process.
They're called "exceptions" and are what the majority of election official
training goes over.
