Bothersome? Why? Do you think government should collect involuntary
tax revenues and then spend that money to compete with private enterprise? I certainly do not. Let the telecom companies compete
on their own merits... if citizens in rural areas want to voluntarily
fund improvements to their infrastructure in order to attract businesses, that's fine... but why not let them form a voluntarily funded, non-profit coop in order to do it.
