He was on the ballot under the party "Connecticut for Lieberman" (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Connecticut_for_Lieberman), but is listed as an "Independent" in the Senate (where its just D/R/I)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think Lieberman ran as an Independent

If I would have had any say at all in the Senate (which I don't of course) I
would have kicked Joe "It's all about me" Lieberman to the curb yet the dems
allowed him to keep his senality even though he belongs to the biggest joke of
a party since whatever Jessie "the mind" Ventura created to capture that
governorship somewhere up North. A$$hole. And this isn't the first time he
has put his political well-being above that of his party. Not by a long shot
and it won't be the last.
Defeat Lieberman. Again. Please.

The _caucus_ with the most members gets to set the agenda,
chairmanships, etc. etc. If you don't pick a caucus, you don't get a
nice seat on a committee.
Bernie Sanders, nominally a Socialist, was elected to the Senate from
Vermont. He's been a member of the House for years and has always
caucused with Democrats for leadership votes.
Joseph Lieberman has been nominally a Democrat and even received the
Democratic Party nomination for Vice President in 2004. He only became
an "independent" this year when the filthy turncoat betrayed his party
after losing the Senate nomination to Ned Lamont and ran on his own.
This was a good political calculation on his part because he did succeed
in getting re-elected to the Senate on the strength of his personal base
in the state. Lieberman has promised to caucus with the Democrats as
well.
These two independents will give the Democrats control of the Senate.

OK - I admit to sleeping a lot during Civics 101. If the Dems have 49 seats
and the Reps have 49 seats and the Ind have 2 seats, how come the Dems get
control? I've seen little tag sentences that say the Ind. vote with the
Dems, but if so, they don't sound so independant. What if the Inds said
they
were voting with the Reps? Sounds like the Inds could get some concessions
and or name a price to join a voting block
