asr has the --wrapper option, which makes drives bootable (or at least. omitting it seems to make them unbootable :)
--wrapper forces an HFS wrapper to be created on the tar get volume if the --erase option is used. Nor mally the creation of a wrapper depends on certain filesystem variables. --wrapper is ignored if --erase is not used.
