I have Bell South DSL in North Chatham county. I think it is very good and quite reliable, except when the lines get cut by construction. I don't think we'll get many more problems with 15-501 construction, but they're putting a new shopping center on our corner, Lystra Road.

I'm sort-of across the street from Governors Club, but can't get cable unless I want to pay (as I remember) $3/foot from my house to Governors Club. I have a long driveway and Governors Club isn't that close.

I'm happy to stay with Bell South DSL.

have you confirmed for sure you don't have access to one of the *DSL services?
My old place in Chatham County (apex mailing address) didn't have
access to cable TV but before I left Bellsouth did start providing
ADSL.

Anyone got tips/info on broadband access in North Chatham?

Chapel Hell is getting too pricey for me, but I don't want to have to
resort to TCP/IP over carrier pigeon. Earthlink satellite is
$1440/first year and $840/year after that, for admittedly 1999-level
service. (500 kbps / 60 kbps)

Ideas on high-speed long-distance WIFI? Or perhaps dialing over cell?

Thanks!
