I never heard the term "soda" until I moved out of Ohio, which its exclusively "pop". "Soda" to mean means "baking soda".
Hey! Don't you paint Ohio with that big brush! I grew up saying "sodapop", which wasn't one of the choices...
Anyway, it looks as if the South has yet to really rub off on me.
