I just personally think (at the moment, I'll get to that) that there
are some guns that noone really needs to own.

That said (here it is from above) someone pointed out to me that the
2nd amendment was never intended to protect hunters, but was, and it
clearly states, is for the orginization of a militia. A militia that
not only defends to homeland and such, but also when it becomes
necessary, rises up against a tyrannical rule and wayward government.
That being said, maybe it is right for people to own assault-type
weapons, after all, I don't think a bunch of farmers and even
organized militiamen with hunting rifles could really pull off a coup.
Is it dangerous to have that capability? Well, only if the government
is doing something to piss the people off enough that they feel they
need to take up arms.

I think the numbers speak for themselves in par-capita gun crimes that
single out americans as particularly violent and pre-disposed to gun
crime, but as you said, i think thats a result of many factors in
society, not just that we're americans.
