Strategically, Dean is correct. The Democrats need to reclaim the loyalty and protect the interests of working class in the South (and the rest of the country, for that matter). Tactically, he made a honking big booboo. If he'd said "gun rack" instead of "Confederate flag", he wouldn't be in the mess he's in now.
