wow. i was just catching folks up to speed on CH local developments. never thought it would touch off such a groundswell of list traffic. guess food has always been a popular topic, tho. lots to comment on, so please forgive me if i miss a topic or two...

1. chinese in raleigh? that is simple -- Neo-China in the Wal*Mart complex on 70 (Glenwood Ave). year in, year out - my favorite chinese in the whole state!!

2. BBQ? not so simple. of course, Allen & Sons wins every "authenticity" category known to man; plus they have amazing grub. as a close second is the chunky style pork sandwich at Danny's BBQ in Cary (off Tryon Rd. / hwy 64). i love Danny's for the chunk and for the golden-brown-sweet-honey-sauce.. aarrgglll...

3. need a new spot for your 'group' to 'hang'? Caffe Driade in Chapel hill is super special and welcomes gatherings ( <= about 15 peeps). Open Eye Cafe in Carrboro is a sister store and just as nice. best coffee this side of the triangle is served at both. and you can always hang at The Weave!

4. blowing up the moon? it is at this time that i realize there is no new humor. this joke comes from Mr. Show circa 1996. "We have the technology. The time is right. Children are our future. We WILL blow up the moon!"
-- cut to cozy couple "Oh, we have a big party planned to watch the moon blow up!"

5. Zany Brainy is dying?!?! HOORAY!!! now, maybe they will take me off of their freakin' snail mail spam list. i DON'T have kids and i have called about 14 times to be removed from their evil list, yet they continue to stalk me from address to address -- always with the sending of those asinine toy catalogs. will it never stop?? hopefully now, you lousy (grumble-mumble) can't manage a list (grumble)...

6. Irish kids browser?? just let me download the code and test it. no more Jibba-Jabba. let the developer masses decide; otherwise it is only talk.

7. Giant Lava Lamps??? "If you're stoned, and you build it - they will all dance around and exclaim 'Duuuuude - it is like, soooooo trippy, man!!' "

8. Snow in the triangle? Bring it on, snow. We're still pissed from the last storm. You think you can take us?? We will wipe the streets with your ass!!

9. Safari?? Slow?? okay - i was excited when it came out, but after several days of it [1] not rendering about 35% of sites i visit properly and [2] completely hogging system resources before crashing and [3] insultingly changing itself to be the default browser, i have turned my back on Apple's So-Called-Browser. it sucketh mightily. but then again, i was told yesterday to download (v51) and that would fix everything and the world would be peachy.

well, once bitten, twice shy. i've got the new code loaded (and IE 5.2 thankfully back in the default position), but my level of interest to futz with it is nil. why release sh*t if it is only gonna piss people off? i say "wait a week. wait 'til it is ready. wait until it is the undisputed heavyweight browsing champion."

but, no one ever listens to me.

hope to see you all out at our Blizzardly Good Fun at Tyler's tomorrow.
bring a hat and gloves.
dave ;)
