Thanks for the reminder and encouragement. After sitting through a city council meeting in Chapel Hill I can only imagine the difficulty of holding local office, not to mention the many part time and volunteer positions. Every citizen has an opinion, but few are willing to get off their butt and do anything but show up and complain after the fact. Most people complain about the terrible quality of their politicians, but the fact is at least on the local level the world works on supply and demand, and anyone willing to put up with the large amount of abuse from the general citizenry is a better person than I.
One of these days I'd like to volunteer for one of the many positions in local government, but until I get around to it, the least I can do is read a little and spend 20 minutes voting!
