From an HR type re: the benefits conundrum. This time of year many
companies are "shopping" their benefits (translated that means
desperately seeking better benefits/prices for upcoming renewals, also
known as the quest for the benefits holy grail), most insurers are
preparing their new (read increased) premium quotes for plan renewals,
and Benefits Administrators everywhere start ingesting large quantities
of antacids and cereal-malt beverages, depending upon the time of day.
Like David, I'd be curious to know if cancellations are individual, or
group plans. It's increasingly difficult to even get coverage for small
businesses, but it can be done. Individual policies are actually
getting easier to find--fastest growing segment in the industry. One
thing to keep in mind is to get as much plan detail as possible when
considering quotes. A policy that seems pricey may have some
inclusions, vision coverage, for example, that you either may not want
or would cost extra in another plan. If anyone needs some pointers for
sourcing coverage, you're welcome to email me.

That is pretty scary. Without trying to be nosy, why did they dump you?
Your
premium didn't have enough zeros to work with their new billing
software?

Was this an individual, or a group policy?
