That's what I've heard and read.

I think that PC Magazine and Infoworld both have carried articles about
timelines for Music industry proffits and Napster rise and fall.

Probably Google is your fried here.

There was an interesting market study showing that the biggest Napster
users were the biggest CD buyers. Of course, only a minority of those
Napster users were buying NoSync / BritSparrows / SplashGirls...
