So I delurk not to offer any elightening technical tidbit, but to give the benefit of my vast experience with food. <G>

Trouble is, except for the odd tofu dog, we don't have a lot of
experience in the vegetarian grillable department. So I'm soliciting
comment:

And those tofu dogs are indeed odd...

What are the best barbecue foods for folks who don't eat meat? What's
the best brand of tofu dog? Are fake hamburgers worthwhile? Won't
veggie-burger mix fall through the grate and onto the coals? Is tempeh
good on the grill?

Portobello mushrooms! I'm not even a vegetarian and I'd take that over a hamburger any day. Also zucchini sliced lengthwise and marinated in a mix of balsamic and white wine vinegar with a little garlic and maybe some fresh basil.

There is no best brand of tofu dog. They're unnat'ral. ;o) Nature Burger does pretty well on the grill, but you have to mix it with an egg if your vegetarian will eat them. If not, I dunno.

Can't speak to grilling tempeh...

Your comments would be especially appreciated if you were one of said
vegetarians who are actually going to attend the picnic.

Thanks!!!
