Uh, I think you're more "inside" than you give yourself credit for,
Uzi. Anyone who does as great a job at organizing a gathering as you
did last month is not an "outsider".

I think part of the process of a group like this is balancing the
individual initiative with the consensus desires. But rather than being
strictly hierarchical, everyone can be a leader. Ya just gotta
remember, a leader needs people to go along in the same direction.
Hence the need for consensus.

This group, I hope, has sufficient elasticity that we can have folks
going in more than one direction at a time and still maintain its
coherence and collective identity. We can have a formal gathering time
of the First Thursday, but -- as Steve noted -- still get together
spontanously at different times. Not everyone needs to attend
gatherings, or subscribe to this list, or contribute to a website, in
order to legitimately feel that they are part of the community we are
building.

The main point is to maintain and respect the interplay between
individual initiative and group response. Keep that process alive and
we keep the group alive.
