I always thin mine, and it definitely improves fruit quality. I wait until
they're about golfball sized to do it, though - and thin to each a hand's
width apart. My tree is loaded with tiny little fruits and it's looking
like it will be a great peach year this year. No insect issues yet. Usually
don't have a lot of worms.
