I hated the woven plastic kind when I was in FL.... most of the time not much
wind, but the weight of rain would rip them,,, and if it wasn 't a rip from
rain, it was sun rot causing them to disintegrate. I finally broke down and
bought 2 of the really good rubber kind from Northern Tools. 7 years later
they were still working except for one rip caused by a small hurricane
somehow.
There seems to be no more "service" in the phrase "customer service" at so
many places,,,,, and so much non-thinking going on by employees.
I was pleasantly surprised yesterday. I'm doing body work and priming and
painting my old rusty truck myself. I had ordered some parts last week from
a non-chain type parts store. In casual conversation they learned I was
unemployed. Yesterday when I went to pick up the parts, they were
considerably less expensive that the quote --- they felt bad that I was
unemployed and gave me the price a body shop would have paid. It's good to
know there are still people out there that can do this from time to time.
Last year we bought 6 tarps for those "carports" things Costco and the
other big boxes sell. .........
Now, I'm really pissed! <g> So, I call the manager's boss. Guess who is
shipping the 6 tarps to arrive tomorrow or Wednesday!
I rarely wish for riches but I sure wish I could afford to buy real tarps or
enough wood to put a shed row over the goofy carports!

I remember being in Englad in the early 80's during that recession. Three
things struck me strong enough that I they still come to mind from time to
time.
One was a huge billboard going into London with the latest unemployment
figures. I remember it was over 1 million and that was for London alone.
The second is that there generally 3 prices posted for things like theatres
and sporting events
1 - adults
2 - youth
3 - unemployed.
The third was the men's washroom sign at Stonehenge. I even took a picture
of it - how to say 'men' in 33 languages.
