I could never figure out how people could afford to buy cigarettes.
If they have to smoke, growing their own is a good idea (plus they
know what is and isn't added to their smokes).

Congrats on quitting Bev!! Does Ron still smoke? That would make it
doubly hard to quit.

We both quit, successfully. I would not have been able to do so if he
had not, and visa versa. As to why people don't grow their own...
1. seeds are hard to find
2. climate and soil really make a difference in this crop
3. it takes up a LOT of space
4. it has to be aged in the right temperature and humidity, think
cheese-making, and it is hard to find that perfect spot.

Now of course, plenty of people do the above successfully, but I think
more folks grow their own for chewing, for snuff, than for smoking.

I said for YEARS that tobacco itself was probably not addictive, but it
was the additives and/or the way it was processed, that was. People
have smoked tobacco for centuries, but it has only been in the last
century that you see so many nicotine addicts. Now, why would that be?

Oh well.
I feels REALLY good to be free of those bonds. I'm such a survivalist at
the core of my being, I had always worried about how my addiction to
nicotine would affect my ability to think post-whatever. It is a
weakness that could be exploited. In my opinion, nicotine is more
powerful than heroin. I've never understood why the military promotes,
allows, glamorizes, smoking. It is absolutely crazy that they don't
want gay soldiers(thank you Bill Clinton), but nicotine addicts are
okay. There have been times in my life when I wanted/needed a smoke so
badly that I might have compromised myself or someone else. Sad to say,
but that is how powerful nicotine is.
