Yeah, I think the bulbs for the system we saw were like $65 or so. BUT,
what is the price of good, clean water? I know it will take electricity
to run the light, too. Right now, we spent about $16 on filters, all
things considered, that is our average monthly water expense. If we
order from the new place, We would spend $14 a month and have better
quality water at the end of filtration alone. The UV treatment adds 7
or 8 buck a month with replacing the filter once a year and electricity,
putting the total monthly cost for water purification near $22 instead
of the 16 we pay now. However, I think the additional peace of mind
will be worth it.

The bulb is supposed to be replaced every year, long before it burns out. The company says that the bulb becomes less effective as it ages, so needs to be replaced. Those bulbs are not cheap. I don't replace them every year..I often go two or three years, and I rarely notice the difference.
