I did a bit of research today. The original Monster Maul was made by Jotul and weighed fifteen pounds. One or two imitations are available today that weight twelve pounds. Some complain the handle on this new adaptation is too short.

I also have a Monster Maul. I no longer split much wood and burn it whole
now but used to split a lot of wood with it.
They were made by a company called something like "Homestead Products" -
their main product was a kit for barrel stoves. The stoves worked very
well, as did the maul.
Not only do the mauls work well, they don't get stuck in the wood like an
axe.
I don't think you can buy them anymore - I think the company has been out of
business for quite a few years.

I think I'll replace the handle in my heavy maul this week, it's
broken.
The best splitting maul I have had is all metal. I think the name when
I bought it was Monster Maul. Heavier and blunter than a typical wood-
handled splitting maul, it seriously does the job. It will also make a
man of you if you are not already, and if you are already, it will
keep you in shape.
