Yes, I'm single too, so makes things much easier as far as conservation...
not only water but electricity, etc. When married, the ex- complained if I
dried clothes/towels outside.
When I was a kid living in a suburb of Chicago,,,,,,, there was a family of 8
who lived down the street. They did not have indoor plumbing and were not
connected to city water. They had some kind of metal sheets up on the roof,
which slanted into a rain spout down, which emptied into a number of big
wooden barrels. One day she went to make us something to drink and opened up
the barrel and scooped up water. The inside of the barrel had algae growth
on the sides. She took the water to the stove and boiled it. As far as I
know the water was fine - at least I didn't get sick :-)
Maybe someone here knows how long rain water could be stored, and if algae
has any health concerns.
It is too bad that most home toilets aren't changed over to ones that are
composting or use next to no water. What a waste of water....

Thanks for that link ! I'm watching it now, so far quite interesting......
and parallels some things I've already done (found out I had to eliminate
dairy - I can have occassionally, but not often).
