I thought I would mention this as I know I am not the only one who is
feeling the pinch of the economy.
I called Dish Network today to cancel my service(it was like $60/mo).
Even though we originally signed up for a 150 channel package 5 years
ago, somehow, over the years, our service was 'upgraded' to the 250
channel package and of course, we paid little increases over time so we
never really knew the package changed. We only watch a fraction of the
channels anyway. I do recall that our original bill was like $35, but
there are always increased in things and I just assumed the prices of TV
went up like everything else....
So, you might want to check your subscription package to make sure you
are not being overcharged.
While on the phone with customer service, I was informed that because I
was considered a long term customer(5 years)and was in good standing,
that I was not bound to have any kind of package programming, that I
could get local channels only for $5 a month!!! I had inquired about
this very thing a few years ago and was told that I had to order one of
their packages to get the locals...now, apparently that is not the case.
Now, at least I will be able to watch the Superbowl and Survivor and
American Idol and all the other junk escapist shows I enjoy, and for
$5/month, that's a deal.
I just thought I would mention that so if any of you subscribe to Dish,
you should check your account, too.
