I have had several mills.  My advice would be, first try to get a metal mill.
They take a lot of abuse and I doubt if plastic would hold up.  Second, they
make ones will burrs, which are metal and ones with stones.  Get the ones
with stones as the the burrs don't last too long.

I've been starting to look again at grain mills...I want to be able to
grind corn and maybe rice...rolling oats would be nice, too. I don't
grow wheat or buy wheatberries, so I wouldn't be grinding much wheat. I
won't rule it out, but I see myself using this mostly for corn and oats.
I can't afford a Vita Mix..that's just out of my league..so what about
some of these other models....

I'd really like the opinions of those of you who have tried these or use
them..opinions?

I have a KitchenAid mixer with all the attachments. Mine is over 25 years
old and is going strong. I don't know if the grain mill could be used to
grind pounds and pounds of grain every day, but it's fine for the little
bits that I do. The food mill was great this summer for processing pounds of
crabapples. I steamed them to soften them, then put them through whole. Pulp
and juice come out one place, and the seeds and skins come out the end.
It's a good mixer, too.If it ever broke down, I'd scrimp and save to get
another one.
