Folks in New Jersey (who know a thing or two about tomatoes) swear by
wood ash to get rid of hornworms. My father always saved a bucket of ash
to sprinkle on the tomato plants. As far as I know, it works, and the
ash is full of potassium and minerals, so is good for the soil.
