Now see, they say local zoo, but I heard that the guy was an exotics
collector(legal and some illegally obtained/kept animals was insinuated in
the radio story I heard) who initially refused to leave.  The spin on that
story, with phrases like "took sanctuary in a church" makes the guy sound
like Joseph with Mary- no room at the inn-LOL.
Oh well.
It's funny (not) what the news reporters will choose to write when there are
about a gazillion Ike stories that could be written and SHOULD be written as
cautionary tales.

Riding out Ike on an island, with a lion
By ALLEN G. BREED, AP National Writer Tue Sep 16, 11:52 PM ET

storm flattened their island, they took sanctuary in a church — with a lion.
The full-grown lion was from a local zoo, and the owner

I'm not saying Bush is ignorant, nor is Palin. Saying that they can't
say "nuclear" and it bugs me. It's a little thing, a pet peeve of
mine.

No, James, wrong, at least in part. It's not a Southern speech
pattern. 'Nucl'ar' or 'new-clear' pronounced around these parts has an
'ar' or 'ear' at the end, not a 'uler' as pronounced by the Yankee
Bush who somehow ended up with a Southern accent.

And James, Obama's Yankee accent and pronunciation does not him an
elitist make.
