Thanks for that, Warren. We have emergency water in the basement in plastic and from time to time I've wondered if it is okay to keep it for long periods but never ran the truth to ground.

At the end of the snopes article is a sentence: "There are no dioxins in plastic." A friend had cautioned many years ago about me burning my trash when it contained plastic because she said that plastic emits dioxin when burned. I just googled it and did not find a definitive answer.

There sure are a lot of unsubstantiated sensationalist assertions out there. Everybody wants to be important and one of the apparent easy ways is to "help" a friend by warning them about something.
