Hi Bev,
Our well is 300 ft. and has had two wiring problems in its 30 years, both related to the twisting when the pump kicks in. We upgraded to the two-wire pump the last time and the man who did the work installed plastic disks every twenty or so feet that he said are meant to prevent that twisting and consequential wire breakage. So far so good.

Upon initial investigation Ron saw sparks when he engaged the power to the pump (at the lug that carries half the voltage to the pump). We are thinking it might be the wiring, which is as old as the pump(maybe 30+ years).
