This is just for what it's worth.

I was born in the county where I live. Within a radius of some fifty miles
or so are the counties (in Tennessee and Virginia) where my parents,
grandparents, great grand parents, and great great grandparents were born,
lived their
entire lives, and died (not my parents, they are still quite with us).

People are welcome here. As I've said before, we have a sizeable population
of sojourning Mexicans here. A good business companion down the hollow from
me is from Texas. One of the most delightful neighbors I ever had was right
across the road (1/4 mile away) who was from New Zealand. She became ill and
wanted a good place to come to die. She said just before died that these had
been the happiest five years of her (nealy 70 year long) life.

But if a person wants to be despised to the very depths of their soul, come
here with the purpose of saving us. There is something about the Applachian
folk that needles us to the heights and depths at the uttter, utter arrogance
of
someone presuming that we need saved from ourselves.

I include this factiod (or opinion-oid) for anyone contemplating a migration
to these climes. One might think that the bringer of some better way or
better resouces would be greeted with gratitude. No. Don't expect it. Not
even
if it is really needed.
