<<Anyone use cameras for this type of use? Would be interested in any
other suggestions one might have. So far, they've stayed out of the house
and barns, the dogs may help but I think I need something more now. Thanks
for any suggestions.>>

Cameras might work if you could set them up so they would get license plate
numbers.

We had a problem with firewood being stolen. One Thanksgiving after a happy
day at my mother's we came home to find that someone had hauled out a large
pickup load of wood. Since we were heating with wood, it was a substantial
economic loss, and the sheriff took notice. Still, in a rural area, it's
hard to catch anyone in the act.

We finally decided to spray all wood with flaming pink marking paint when it
arrived. The first time we did it, the wood arrived in late afternoon. My
husband went to town to the local watering hole a bit later, and six people
(I hadn't noticed anyone going by) asked him what was the deal with the pink
wood. He told them. After that we continued to lose some wood, but not much
(they had to not heap it up where the pink would be exposed).

Of course, this would not work with livestock being butchered and removed.
Can you put up a gate? Someone butchering a cow is not going to want to walk
in. The only real solution is to have someone home all the time...

Marie
