I have the perc, but the health department wants the lot mowed off before he will lay out the plan for the septic.

Go mow the lot. I used our old 3hp lawn mower to do the acre or so of hay that was our yard (2-3 ft high). The first row was the hardest, for all the rest I did no more than half the width of the mower. Took a good part of the day but it worked.
Get it done and get on with what has to be done... It's Sept already.

Met with some local dealers and set them looking for a used mobile. I want something that is insulated and doesn't leak. A double wide would be good.

Out here and in Minnesota the lots had "trade-ins" on them. Have you checked mh parks? There might be folks trying to get rid of an old one.

I have not found one listed in local papers, other than ones that are on land and not mobile, so figured the local dealers were the way to go.

Anyone have information or advice on putting a wood stove in a mobile? I'll build an addition to hold a stove later, but might like to add on this year.

I have seen threads on putting a wood burner into a mh, search the archives of the groups you belong to. As I recall folks put down a fireproof base & walls and quality pipe. There are mh's here that have wood burners and I think the local dealers can deal with installing them.

Anyone know of a good field reference that would help identify trees in the mid-atlantic area?

"National Audubon Society Field Guide to Trees. Eastern region" I picked mine up at Sam's Club or Costco, it was like $12. I had to get one for the west coast when we got out here.

Good luck!
