There is chainsaw milling, the Granberg Alaskan comes to mind or maybe even the mini-mill.
Take a look at http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles/tresl39.html for an idea of building your own "Alaskan".
Keep in mind that chainsaw milling is not as fast as a band saw and the waste is greater but it will do the job. From your description of your needs this might do the trick.
For those who are not into building their own Alaskan http://www.granberg.com/alaskaintro.html be sure to take a look at the mini-mill.
