For the thinking man, and economic broken-field-runner chaos equals oppurtunity. For the workforce who believe if you work hard and are productive you will be adequately rewarded by an employer, life is going to be hell.

I am surprised that anyone is surprised by what has been happening. Clinton spoke years ago of how most people would have seven or more jobs throughout their lives. Ethic-less corporate raider activity is yesterdays' news. Raided pension plans, corporate bankruptcies to avoid obligations, on and on to Enron. Who could still believe in corporate decency and dependability?

Free enterprise allows both motivation/entrepreneurialism and greed/corruption. The national debate over how much socialism we want will continue as it is one answer to how common folk can survive in an economic jungle of big predators. Many people need such a safety net. I prefer self-employment with all its unique challenges. I prefer to rely on no one but myself. Over my working life I have stayed open to mutually beneficial relationships but found that I ended up with the heavy end of the load, so have evolved to a one-man show. Works for me. I recommend it.
