Banana slugs are more likely to eat decaying vegetation than living plants--they are primary decomposers. On the chance that they are eating the plants, copper tape is a good option. You'll need to double it up--glue two strips to boards that you place all around the garden perimeter. Also, remember to water in the morning, not the evening, and pull mulches back from the plants. You can trap them the same way you trap smaller slugs--either by setting clay pots upside down all over the garden or by placing boards at random spots in the garden. If you go with clay pots, place a small stick under the rim on one side to allow space for the slug to crawl in. With either pots or boards, it's best to get out early in the morning to collect the slugs and destroy them.

Best,

Miranda
