A friend of mine has a friend who recently moved to Whidby Island in Washington State and now has a slug problem -- they both are looking for help. I don't know whether my East Coast slug remedy of pans of beer is going to do the job with "banana slugs" the size of bananas. Organic remedies, please! I'll pass them along.

One of those glitches has to do with slugs.....there are the small
brown/black ones that average about 5 inches in length and 3/4" in diameter - I kid you not - and then the banana slugs that look like and are the size of
bananas....not a single realtor mentioned these....Yesterday I had my first encounter with a brown one....I thought I was hallucinating....but apparently these
are common all over the Pacific Northwest. In fact, in Elmo, WA - not too far from here....they have an annual slugfest the main event of which is the slug race where competitors from all over the PNW race their pet slugs!!
