Doreen,
There are a boatload of perennials that will thrive in acidic soil. Some of the most sought after plants in gardening are included. There are too many to even list...I'd hit the books. Suffice it to say, you're lucky to have such a spot. As a start for your research, look for lists of plants for "peat beds". Many gardeners and almost all botanical gardens have such an area for acid lovers.
